Emerging Independent
Baserange
Baserange was founded in 2012 in Toulouse, France by French designer Marie-Louise Mogensen as a contemporary luxury intimates-and-loungewear brand specifically focused on what Mogensen described as 'a deliberately-sustainable, deliberately-minimalist Scandinavian-French underwear-and-loungewear vocabulary anchored to natural-fibre fabric production and small-batch European manufacturing.' The brand has been one of the defining post-2012 European-anchored 'sustainable-luxury-intimates' brands.
The Baserange vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: bamboo-jersey and Tencel-fabric underwear and bralettes (the brand's defining product category since 2012), the brand's iconic Baserange Bell jumpsuit, the long-running Bias-Cut silk and Tencel slip-dress programme, hand-knitted European-mill cotton-and-bamboo loungewear sweaters, and a colour palette anchored to washed-cream, oxblood, ecru, soft-pink, washed-charcoal, plus the brand's recurring use of natural-undyed cotton and bamboo tones. Production is split between French workshops and selected European production partners — the brand has remained continuously committed to small-batch European-only manufacturing.
The brand is independent and held by Mogensen. Baserange operates flagship retail in Paris (Le Marais — the brand's home flagship), Copenhagen, plus international wholesale through SSENSE, MATCHES, Net-a-Porter, MR PORTER, Mytheresa, Lane Crawford, the Webster, and a curated set of contemporary-luxury-intimates specialty retailers globally. The brand has been one of the most quietly disciplined post-2012 French-anchored 'sustainable-luxury-intimates' brands, with the deliberately-natural-fibre-and-European-manufacturing positioning specifically anchoring the brand inside the contemporary 'sustainability-luxury-fashion' conversation that has been continuously rewritten since 2015.
