Saintwoods
Saintwoods was founded in 2014 in Montreal by Hassan Pourshahidi (better known as Saint Woods) and his creative partners as a Canadian-anchored cultural-collective brand specifically focused on what Saint Woods described as 'a deliberately-Montreal-cosmopolitan creative-collective brand spanning streetwear, music-production, and cultural-event-programming.' The brand has been one of the defining post-2014 Canadian-anchored 'cultural-collective-streetwear' brands.
The Saintwoods vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: heavyweight cotton tees and hoodies with the brand's iconic Saintwoods typography logo and shifting seasonal Montreal-and-Caribbean-cultural-reference graphic-design motifs, deconstructed denim and workwear-derived streetwear trousers, the brand's iconic Saintwoods music-collaboration programme (the broader Saint Woods cultural-collective operates a music-production label alongside the streetwear brand), the long-running Saintwoods × Carhartt WIP, Saintwoods × New Balance, and Saintwoods × Aimé Leon Dore collaboration capsules, and a colour palette anchored to washed-black, washed-navy, ecru, oxblood, plus the brand's recurring use of saturated red, electric-blue, butter-yellow, and the iconic Montreal-cosmopolitan-aesthetic accent combinations.
The brand is independent and held by Pourshahidi. Saintwoods operates a flagship retail concept in Montreal (the brand's home flagship) plus international wholesale through SSENSE, HBX, Patta, Slam Jam Milan, Dover Street Market, the broader US-and-European streetwear specialty distribution network, and a substantial Japanese streetwear-specialty distribution. The brand has been one of the defining post-2014 Canadian-anchored 'cultural-collective-streetwear' brands.
