The Frankie Shop was founded in 2014 in New York by Gaëlle Drevet, a French designer who had previously worked at Vogue Paris and launched the brand from a small Lower East Side store. The thesis was specific: produce contemporary wardrobe staples — oversized blazers, tailored trousers, the iconic Bea Blazer, fine knitwear — at a price point (€200-400) that bridged the gap between contemporary brands like COS and luxury houses like The Row. The Frankie Shop vocabulary settled around several signatures: oversized double-breasted blazers (the brand became viral for the Bea Blazer specifically — a wide-shouldered jacket worn by the Manhattan downtown style set throughout 2020-2024), tailored Bermuda shorts, fine ribbed-knit sets, fluid silk shirting, and a colour palette of mineral neutrals (black, charcoal, oat, cream, navy). The brand's brick-and-mortar Eldridge Street store remains a Lower East Side destination, and the European presence has expanded rapidly. The Frankie Shop operates flagships in New York (Eldridge Street), Paris (Marais), London (Soho), and online globally. The brand is independent and held by Drevet. Few contemporary brands have so cleanly identified a specific gap in the market — wardrobe staples at mid-luxury craft and price — and so completely served that customer for a decade running.
