James Shaw

A British menswear entrepreneur with a background in design and retail, James Shaw co-founded Albam in London in 2006 with Alastair Rae, building the label around well-made, classically detailed British and European menswear staples sourced from small specialist mills and factories. From its first shop on Beak Street in Soho, Albam grew through additional stores in Spitalfields, Islington and Manchester and an Albam UK online presence, with a product line centred on the Fisherman jacket, Welsh-mill knitwear, Portuguese-made tees and English-made shirting. Shaw's editorial-led approach to provenance and process, with each piece tagged by maker and origin, helped establish Albam as a touchstone of the 2000s wave of British heritage menswear.
