Founded in 2015 by Reni Folawiyo and housed in a four-storey terracotta volume designed by Sir David Adjaye, Alára - Yoruba for everything is possible - was conceived as West Africa's answer to Colette or 10 Corso Como. Suspended platforms and a nine-metre void give visitors a slow architectural promenade past Saint Laurent, Valentino and Christian Louboutin alongside Maki Oh, Lisa Folawiyo and Duro Olowu. The rooftop doubles as an art gallery; the ground floor restaurant pulls Lagos's creative class for long lunches. More than a decade in, Alára is still the place global luxury houses come to when they want a Lagos conversation.
