Opened in March 1990 alongside the Grand Hyatt as part of Jakarta's most prestigious mixed-use complex at the Hotel Indonesia roundabout, Plaza Indonesia set the template for premium retail in Southeast Asia and remains the country's most prestigious luxury address. Levels 1 and 2 read like a Place Vendome map - Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes, Dior, Cartier, Bulgari, Bottega Veneta - while the Plaza Indonesia Extension added contemporary boutiques such as The Goods Dept, Aesop and a curated Sephora flagship. Despite competition from Pacific Place and the newer Ashta district, the original Plaza Indonesia stays unrivalled for first-to-market launches and remains the default location for global maisons opening their first Indonesian store.
