Sneakerness was founded in 2008 in Zurich, Switzerland by Niels Holzapfel and Hikmet Sugoer (also founder of Solebox Berlin) as a sneaker-culture trade-show event that subsequently expanded into a retail-and-event operation across multiple European cities including Zurich, Amsterdam, Cologne, Milan, and Paris. The Sneakerness premise—that European sneaker culture needed a dedicated trade-show-and-retail event format that combined collector trading, brand activation, and the broader European sneaker community programming—proved out commercially through the 2010s. The Sneakerness vocabulary spans the full European sneaker culture conversation: vintage and dead-stock Air Jordan retros, Adidas Originals archive pieces, Nike SB and Nike Sportswear collectibles, Asics and New Balance collaborations, plus the broader European sneaker boutique pipeline that includes Solebox, 43einhalb, Overkill, Asphaltgold, and the international brand-collaboration programming that routes through the Sneakerness event network. The event also functions as primary networking hub for European sneaker boutique operators, brand-collaboration partners, and the broader European sneaker collector community. Sneakerness operates as both event organization and curated retail platform, with the annual European event calendar anchoring the brand's broader presence inside the European sneaker culture conversation. The brand's customer base—heavily skewed toward European sneaker collectors, boutique operators, and the broader European sneaker community—treats Sneakerness as one of the defining post-2008 European sneaker culture reference points. For European sneaker collectors building a vintage-and-dead-stock sneaker wardrobe through the post-2010 era, Sneakerness has been one of the defining event-and-retail destinations.
