AEYDE was founded in 2015 in Berlin by Constantin Buschmann and Luisa Krogmann as a contemporary luxury footwear brand specifically focused on what the founders described as 'direct-to-consumer Italian-craft footwear at a contemporary-luxury price tier well below the broader European-luxury-footwear category.' The brand has been one of the defining post-2015 Berlin-anchored direct-to-consumer luxury-footwear brands.
The AEYDE vocabulary settled around several specific products: the iconic Mid-Heel Mule (the brand's defining product since 2016 — a square-toed leather mule with the brand's signature low-block-heel construction), the Sandal programme, the Loafer and Ballet Flat programs, various leather knee-high and ankle-boot models, and a colour palette anchored to washed-cream, oxblood, washed-charcoal, ecru, soft-pink, natural-tan, plus the brand's recurring use of saturated red, royal-blue, and the brand's recurring sophisticated minimalist neutral-tone palette. Production is entirely Italian, at small leather workshops in the Marche region.
The brand is independent and held by Buschmann and Krogmann plus institutional European investors. AEYDE operates flagship retail in Berlin (the brand's home flagship), Munich, plus international wholesale through SSENSE, Net-a-Porter, MATCHES, Mytheresa, the Webster, Lane Crawford, Boontheshop, and a curated set of contemporary-luxury-footwear specialty retailers globally. The brand has been one of the most quietly disciplined post-2015 Berlin-anchored 'direct-to-consumer-Italian-luxury-footwear' brands, with the deliberately-DTC-Italian-craft positioning specifically anchoring the brand inside the contemporary 'accessible-luxury-footwear' conversation that has been continuously rewritten since 2018.
