Sánchez-Kane
Bárbara Sánchez-Kane founded her Mexico City menswear label after graduating from Florence's Polimoda in 2015. Born in Mérida, Yucatán in 1987, she describes Sánchez-Kane as 'a Mexican clothing brand curated by emotional chaos' and calls her studio La Casa del Macho Sentimental — the House of the Sentimental Macho. Working between fashion, sculpture and performance, she disarms machismo and Mexican gender codes through tailoring spliced with lingerie, lucha-libre iconography and uniform references. Her collections have shown at New York Fashion Week and been acquired by museums including the Museo Jumex.
