Notre was founded in 2014 in Chicago by Alex Pham, Trang Tran, and Mike Nguyen as a small streetwear-and-sneaker boutique in West Loop before expanding into one of the defining post-2010 American Midwest curated streetwear operations. The Notre premise—that Chicago could be the editorial reference point for a globally-relevant streetwear-and-sneaker conversation outside the New York-LA axis—proved out commercially through the 2010s and led to the brand's expansion into a larger Aberdeen Street flagship plus a robust e-commerce program. The Notre vocabulary built up around a tightly edited mix of American, Japanese, and European streetwear and sneaker brands: Stüssy, Aimé Leon Dore, Online Ceramics, Engineered Garments, Auralee, Sacai, Comme des Garçons Play, Maison Margiela, Carhartt WIP, plus the broader American and European designer-streetwear pipeline.
