Silvia Tcherassi
Born in Barranquilla, Silvia Tcherassi trained as an interior designer before launching her eponymous label in 1987 with her mother Vera. Her sculptural, feminine silhouettes fuse Caribbean colour and pattern with refined European tailoring, and in 2003 she became one of the first Latin American designers to show at Milan Fashion Week, later receiving France's Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. The house's design studio is in Miami while production stays in Colombia in partnership with the Wayuu and Usiacurí artisan communities; the brand operates eleven boutiques worldwide and stocks at Bergdorf Goodman, Saks and Neiman Marcus.
