DOE

DOE was founded in 2013 in Shanghai by Terry Hu, a Shanghai-born streetwear collector and former luxury-industry executive, as a multi-brand streetwear-and-luxury concept store specifically focused on bringing the kind of inventory (early Visvim, Cav Empt, A Bathing Ape, Stüssy, Neighborhood, Daiki Suzuki's Engineered Garments) that wasn't otherwise available in Shanghai at the time. The brand's foundational thesis was specific: build the kind of Tokyo-Shibuya-streetwear-meets-Beijing-luxury concept store that would establish the Greater-China luxury streetwear category as a genuine domestic-cultural conversation rather than a luxury-export-import operation. The DOE vocabulary settled around several distinguishing things: a buyer-led brand list anchored to Japanese-and-American streetwear (Cav Empt, Visvim, BAPE, Stüssy, Carhartt WIP, Engineered Garments, Goodenough, plus the broader Tokyo-Ura-Harajuku network), the iconic DOE in-house apparel programme (heavyweight cotton tees, hoodies, and limited-edition collaboration product with Asian-specialty retailers and Japanese-and-Korean streetwear partners), the long-running DOE × adidas, DOE × Vans, DOE × New Balance, and DOE × Casio G-Shock collaboration capsules, and a continuous run of in-store events featuring Japanese-and-Korean-streetwear-designer talks and Shanghai-anchored streetwear cultural programming. The brand is independent and held by Hu. DOE operates flagship retail in Shanghai (Anfu Road, the brand's home neighbourhood; the Xintiandi DOE store), Beijing (Sanlitun), Chengdu, plus international wholesale through HBX, Patta, GR8, JUICE Hong Kong, and a small set of carefully chosen streetwear specialty retailers in Asia and Europe. The retailer has been one of the defining Mainland-China-anchored streetwear stores of the post-2010 generation, with the Japanese-and-American-streetwear-import inventory specifically anchoring the brand's position in the Greater-China streetwear conversation that has been continuously rewritten since 2015.
