Haven

Haven was founded in 2006 in Toronto by brothers Dan and Daniel Najjar (Daniel Najjar is the design-and-buy lead, Dan Najjar is the operations lead) as a Tokyo-and-American-workwear-anchored multi-brand store, opening on Dundas Street West in Toronto's then-emerging Trinity-Bellwoods neighbourhood. The brand's foundational thesis was specific: bring the kind of inventory (Visvim, Engineered Garments, A.P.C., Norse Projects, Maison Margiela, the early Acne Studios collections) that wasn't otherwise available in Canada at the time, and build a Canadian customer base around the Tokyo-and-New-York streetwear-meets-contemporary-menswear conversation. The Haven vocabulary expanded through the 2010s into a broader, more layered multi-brand offering: the original Tokyo-anchored brands (Visvim, Engineered Garments, Needles, A Bathing Ape, Sacai, Junya Watanabe) plus the broader contemporary menswear list (Acne Studios, Aimé Leon Dore, Auralee, Comme des Garçons SHIRT, Beams Plus, Daiwa Pier 39, Engineered Garments, Junya Watanabe MAN, Lemaire, Margaret Howell, Norse Projects, Stüssy, The North Face Purple Label, Visvim, Wales Bonner). The Haven Exclusive collaboration programme has produced limited capsules with Birkenstock, Carhartt WIP, Engineered Garments, Maple, New Balance, Norse Projects, Salomon, Stüssy, and dozens of others. The brand is independent and held by the Najjar brothers. Haven operates flagships in Toronto (Dundas Street West, the original 2006 store), Vancouver (Cordova Street, the West Coast flagship), plus a substantial Canadian and international online presence. The retailer has been one of the defining North American multi-brand stores of the Tokyo-streetwear-meets-contemporary-menswear overlap, particularly notable for its early adoption of the Visvim and Engineered Garments brands in North America.
